This tiny bittersweet flower casts a big shadow on the deck it is growing beside. You can tell this is a mid to late summer photograph by the green berries growing on the plants. The berries will be dark red by late summer early fall.
Sometimes when you are walking in the park you come across a beautiful display of flowers. These white daisies make an awesome path for those little travelers with eight legs.
Last in this row is a close up of a chicory flower. In some locations these flowers are called Blue Sailors. They are a lovely to look at no matter what name you give them.
The purple aster flowers grow wild in early summer. These flowers are members of the mint family.
Next in this row is Queen Anne's Lace. Notice how each flower is made up of hundreds of tiny flowers. This composition makes them look like an old fashioned lace doily. It's easy to tell where their name comes from.
And finally you have a close up of a white daisy. All daisies are called composite flowers because they too have tiny flowers inside their center.
Pink Echinacea is a member of the daisy family. This flower is also known for its healing properties. I'm not an herbalist so I really can't tell you how this is done. The next image is pink buds that grow along the walk at riverwalk. The plant itself is tall and full. I'm really not sure what you call them.
Then this beautiful columbine I found growing under a bush at the Naperville Riverwalk. Like so many wild flowers columbines are found in many home gardens. They are a favorite of many.
First in this row of wildflowers is an orange butterfly weed. They grow wild along the lake at Herrick in Illinois.
