These scenic pictures were taken at Naperville Riverwalk, Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Cooper's Rock State Park in WV and evening sky scenes of Virginia.

Naperville Riverwalk

These are just a few pictures taken at the Riverwalk, which boasts over three miles of beautiful landscaped brick walking paths, features fountains, covered bridges, an outdoor amphitheater, the Celebration 2000 Wall and Millennium Carillon, gazebos and shaded seating, a cultural center, a large sled hill, the Riverwalk Eatery, a picnic pavilion, and paddleboat rides.

The Riverwalk is one of our favorite walking parks and you will find several pictures throughout this site that I took while walking in this park. The gemstone of the Naperville Park District park system is the Naperville Riverwalk, a community park that follows the DuPage River through downtown Naperville. Morton Arboretum of Lisle, Illinois

We have only been members of the Morton Arboretum for two years but the scenic pictures will be with us for a lifetime. Although there are only two pictures here today, there are many flower pictures and other scenery that came from this park throughout the pages of this site. Check out our Flower Pictures section here.

Morton Arboretum Mission Statement

The Morton Arboretum was formally established on December 14, 1922 by Mr. Joy Morton (1855-1934), owner of the Morton Salt Company. Its mission is to collect and study trees, shrubs, and other plants from around the world, to display them across naturally beautiful landscapes for people to study and enjoy, and to learn how to grow them in ways that enhance our environment. Our goal is to encourage the planting and conservation of trees and other plants for a greener, healthier, and more beautiful world.

One quick walk through the park tells you that they do stand by their mission. It is one of our favorite places to take scenic pictures. Read more about the Morton Arboretum here.

West Virginia Scenic Pictures

I grew up in West Virginia so every time I visit I feel compelled to take pictures. This old country foot bridge was taken on a trip to visit my daughter and grand children. You can see them standing over one of the caves in Cooper's Rock State Park. Read the story of how this park got it's name at the official Cooper's Rock State Forest site.

This is just one of the many parks and recreational areas in West Virginia

Once considered the southernmost of the North, the northernmost of the South, the easternmost of the West, and the westernmost of the East, West Virginia is nestled between the Blue Ridge Mountains to the East and the Ohio River to the West. Rich in natural resources, physical beauty, and traditional culture, West Virginia's charm is that of being "off the beaten path".

West Virginia is a destination for white water rafting, kayaking, skiing, climbing, golf, mountain biking, hiking, and off-roading. It is the only state that is entirely contained in Appalachia.

Its location between the mid-west and eastern seaboard of the United States means that over 60% of the United States population lives less than 500 miles from West Virginia.

And most important for this site is no matter where you go in West Virginia, you are sure to find a bounty of scenic pictures opportunities. I hope you will be sure and share your scenic pictures with us when you return.

I am one of those luck people that have relatives and friends in many parts of our fair land. I have said earlier that I have a sister who lives in Virginia. These are two pictures that Dodie took one evening on her way home from work.

"Virginia Is For Lovers" is the enigmatic motto of the Virginia tourism council. What makes Virginia particular suited for amour remains something of a mystery, but the state does have many great features: beaches, forests, some of the oldest towns in North America, and proximity to the Mid-Atlantic and the deeper South.
