Those lovely red roses look more like blotches of smeared paint before your eyes. Now what do you do? Does this sound familiar?
That was how I felt the first time I tried taking pictures of red roses. Or any red flower for that matter. They seemed to have no definition. And they certainly didn't look as lovely as I remembered them on my walk.
Every photo editor has a tool to help you enhance the hue of your picture. If you use this tool, you have more control of the image. You can at times watch the changes right in front of your eyes.
I use Microsoft's PictureIt software for most of my picture editing. I like the simple easy to use tools. Choosing the "Effects" option, you will find "hue enhancement"
This pops up a window with a color wheel and your picture right in front of you.
There is actually a large circle with a color ring around it. There are two small dots in these circles. This tells you just where your picture colors are on the chart.
Use your mouse to guide those dots around the circle. You see the picture changes as they happen. Play with this until you have the effect you are looking for.
Hue is simply the levels of color in your picture. If you use other photo editing software, you may see the option to adjust color manually. This is the same process. You may need to click a preview before you can see what the changes look like but the concept is still the same.
Why not have fun with this and create your own art picture. If you love roses, see how you love them in black, pink or even blue.
Just be sure and name your new image different from the original. You don't want to lose your original pictures of red roses.

A portion of all proceeds from this site are donated to St. Judes. If you are looking for a place to give, I highly recommend this hospital. Won't you join us?
