Lily Varieties Picture Gallery

This lily of the valley picture was taken while we were out for a walk. I don't see many of them around the neighborhood. One thing about these delicate little plants is that they will multiply. If you plant them as a border around your flower garden you will be sure and have beautiful little bells early in the spring.

This red lily was taken early in the morning. Dew drops glisten on the petals. There is just something about water drops on a flower picture that are captivating.

Finally in this row of lily varieties is a patch of allium flowers. They were growing on a bank that is actually above the sidewalk. So I got a great angle shot from below the flowers. No I didn't have to get down on the ground to get this shot. The Allium is actually a member of the Alliaceae family of flowers which are of the onion family. But many Botanists still refer to them as members of the Lily Family.

Lily Varieties include Tiger Lilies, Wild Checkered Lilies

First in this row is a stargazer lily that was growing in a friends yard in WV. Lily varieties will brighten even the dullest yard. But these stargazer lilies will steal the show every time.

These Peruvian Lilies are part of a flower arrangement. Peruvian lilies are used often in flower arrangements. They are available in different colors to compliment a variety of flowers.

This lone checkered lily picture was taken at the Riverwalk. It was growing all by itself. I did see a couple more during the summer. But they must be hard to grow. They do bring an early spring surprise to the garden.

Some Lily Varieties Are Bright as The Morning Sun

The first lily in this row was taken at pool side in California. Doesn't it look like the sunshine beaming brightly down on everyone? Well okay maybe that is a little stretch of the imagination. But it is a beautiful lily you must agree.

It is common to see these yellow daylilies growing all along the walks in Naperville as well as other lily varieties. Naperville is home to one of several Riverwalks you can enjoy just a short drive west of Chicago. That isn't the only place you will find these lilies though. They grow all over the US and you can probably take a walk down any block and find one.

Bright sunshine glowing on wind blown lilies, what more could you ask for in your own back yard. This last picture was taken in California again but this time in my daughter's back yard.

Lily Varieties May be Water Lilies, Perrenial Lilies or Pool Side Orange Lilies

This pink water lily blooms all summer and sometimes late into fall. The pond is a pet project of my brothers. You can read more about it at Water Lily Picture page. You will find some beautiful lily pictures there.

Perrenial lily varieties are small and don't look a lot like the many other varities available. They grow low in the garden and can be clustered in with many other flowers. This picture was taken at the Morton Arboretum. You can tell it is a member of the lily family by the long stamen in each flower.

The last picture in this row is of a large orange lily growing in what appears to be a type of cactus. I really couldn't tell if the lilies were just placed in there to give the green plant some color or if this was actually the lily itself. It was growing next to a pool in California. If you know what type of lily this is feel free to contact me. It really looks like your common garden variety of field lily.

Lily Varieties Presents Stargazers, Field Lilies And Surprise Lilies

This stargazer lily was growing just down the street from me. Every year this little patch of grass bursts into full color. The owner of this patch lives in the house behind the hedgegrove. They are completely secluded. But the lilies seem to have grown a life of their own.

In the middle you see yellow field lilies. Notice how they are turning to face the sun. The swoop creates a desire in you to look to the sun when viewed from the path. Isn't nature wonderful?

And finally in this set of lily varieties pictures is the Surprise Lily. Where do you suppose that name came from? Actually they are called surprise lilies because the ground around them is bare. You don't have the usual leaves and buds. But right around August you can wake up to the surprise of beautiful pink flowers in your garden.

Guest Lily Variety Pictures

I recently received a request from a reader asking to use one of my lily pictures for a card she was creating. Tracey makes greeting cards by hand. And I must say they are beautiful cards. This is a picture of one of her creations.

She chose the Surprise Lily picture from my lily varieties page, for her greeting card creation. And the results are stunning, don't you think? You can click on the thumbnail to get a better view.

Be sure and stop by Tracey and Paul's website if you are looking for real hand made greeting cards. You can find them at Sunrise Cards. But you won't see this card there because this card was by special request.

Thank you Tracey for choosing to use an image from Nature And Flower Pictures. If you have an idea for using the images you see on my site, please let me know. I would love to work with you.
