What are some of your favorite flowers?  This is what you put in your garden.  As I walk the parks and neighborhoods I am always impressed with the different color combinations I see.

1. Black Eyed Susans in flower bed of local block park.

2. Fall flowers in a bed surrounded by a low stone wall.

3. Flowers gather in a bed surrounding the base of a tree.  This picture was taken in California but the concept is just as popular here in Illinois.

4. These beautiful lilies line the front of a hedge along the highway.  I wonder if the owners have more on the other side of the bushes so that they can enjoy them as much as the passing cars do?

5. Pink, white, red, and peach colored flowers fill this flower bed to overflowing delight.

6. These hot red spices grace the sidewalks of many apartment complexes in California.  They seem to be in bloom every time I visit my grandchildren.

7. Petunias, purple leaves and yellow flowers make a great combinations for this flower bed.

8. Yellow cone flowers lining the fence around this children's play area look like they will withstand quite a punch.

9. These orange flowers are just one of the many flowers in this raised flower bed.

I think of all the flower beds I have seen and grown, I like the raised beds the most.  They are easiest to keep clean and neat.  And they are less prone to become weed bound.  The way I garden, I need all the help I can get with keeping out the weeds.

Choosing The Right Camera

When it comes to taking nature and flower pictures, you are given many options. I use the Canon PowerShot A510 digital camera to take the pictures on this site.  This camera is considered the low end of digital cameras.  But since it was my first experience with digital I wanted to start small and work my way up.

My next adventure in camera shopping will surely be with Canon.  For me the Canon camera seems to be the easiest to learn and maintain.  If you are thinking about making the jump to a new digital camera, let me recommend a Canon.
