Flower Art, Creative Fun With Your Digital Camera

Learn easy ways to create flower art with your camera. Use clipart to enhance photographs and make collages. Make flower painting without lifting a brush.

You can use your own clipart or use some of the free flower clipart you can find on this site. Please note: this page has many graphics and may take up to 2 minutes to load depending on your connection speed.

Collage Art with Your Favorite Pictures

Here is an example of a flower art created by combining pictures from three different nature walks. Each walk was in a different local park.

Tree Trunk Collage image

Notice the maple leaf begonia in the middle of the trunk. And to the left of that the yellow flower. Please feel free to request a full picture for printing and sharing if you like. This is the finished picture.

Below see the three pictures used to create this flower art.

Spring 05

These are the pictures I used to create collage above:

Tree Trunk image

The log picture was taken at River Walk in Naperville, Illinois. When I saw this hollow tree trunk growing out of the oak, my imagination went to work. I had the picture of something growing in the center. It is fun to help nature along and get those creative juices flowing.

Cinquefoil Wild Flower image The flower is a clipart created from the picture of this Cinquefoil picture was taken at Herrick Lake, Wheaton IL. Clicking on the thumbnail will take you to the larger picture.

Have fun with this and see what you can come up with.

Maple Leaf Clipart image You may recognize the maple leaf picture from the clipart page. I used it with a transparent background to place in the middle of the log to the left.

You can use these same methods to create your own flower art. I would love to see and display some of your creations.

Painted Daisy

Here is another simple creation that looks like a painted flower. I took the picture of a yellow shasta daisy taken at Morton Arboretum and adjusted the brightness and contrast to get the picture you see on the bottom. The picture on the right is the original picture taken at the park.

Golden Daisy Image

The picture on the top is flipped and takes on a surreal effect. Set this picture as your computer background and it is like having the sun to meditate on. You can create the same effect with any photo editing software. Use the brightness and contrast adjustments to create the effect you are seeking. I created this effect by moving the brightness level all the way to the left (darkest setting) and the contrast level all the way to the right (highest contrast level). The result was too good to ignore.

Other effects with your Photo Editing Software

Some photo editing software, such as Microsoft Photo Editor includes special effects such as:

Chalk and Charcoal, Emboss..., Graphic Pen, Note Paper, Water Color, Stained Glass, Stamp, and Textures

American Brookline Textured image This picture looks like a textured painting after using Microsoft Photo Editor. Click on the thumbnail to see larger image.   I used the following steps to create this effect:

1. Open the original photograph  2. Apply the water color technique.   3. Save as (giving new name so you don't lose orininal) 4. Apply the textures technique choosing sandstone as the medium 5. Save as (again using identifier to save)

When finished you will have 3 pictures one of the original, one water color and one textured water color. The final, textured water color is what you see here.
