Continuous shoot

Hi,

I have a pentax K100D and the continuous shoot mode only takes 3 shots. It also seems to stop shooting for precious seconds as my finger repeatedly hits the shutter button. This is maddening when you are trying to capture an animal running past you. I have just started lately shooting in raw... could this be the problem? or is a setting wrong in the camera? I have checked continuous shoot and it's on.
