Come on. You know you want to join them running around the yard sure they will catch that prize. But those elusive butterflies always seem to be just out of reach.
Every once in a while, though, a few lucky humans have a monarch lite on them.
One day while visiting family I glanced outside and noticed my brother, who is in his late forties, had one of these black winged insects on his hand.
I was quite surprized to see such an occurance. Even knowing that this does happen, I felt it was unusual.
He seemed to be right at home perched on Jay's finger. Just the same, I rushed out to see what was up. My camera was nowhere to be found at the moment. But thanks to this new age of technology, I had my camera phone in hand.
Do you have a fun story you would like to share?
Imagine my delight when the beautiful red spotted purple seemed to have no desire to fly away at all. Jay walked around holding out his hand where the insect rested. I was able to get quite a few pictures.
I asked, "How did you get so lucky?"
He responded with, "It landed on the car and I picked it up."
This made the story even more fascinating. It's kind of like catching flies. Are the creatures in nature becoming more trusting of humans? Or are we humans becoming more trusting of nature? Just something to ponder.
After a time Jay grew tired of the process and motioned for the butterfly to leave.
Myrna from South Africa tells of her Messengers . Read how she received comfort from two different visitations.
I'm not sure how true the pure spirit idea is. There was another, while walking in the park I had a Monarch Butterfly land on my shoulder. I was surprised and delighted but had no camera to capture that moment. The picture you see here is a monarch but not the one that landed on my shoulder.
My friends walking with me said that it is a sign of good fortune when they land on you.So how rare is it for a butterfly to land on human's and what does it mean I wondered. I did a little research online and found that many people have experienced close encounters with butterflies.
And everyone asks the same or similar questions.
It would seem that each species comes with it's own identifying character. For instance, the mourning cloak could mean the death of someone close. Perhaps it just means the transition from one phase of your life into the next.
Just last week the kids and I were walking in a local park. I watched as a variety of butterflies flew around the tops of the trees. There were lots of them too far away to get pictures of. But it was fun to watch them dance around in the sky above.
Then as if following my very thoughts one lone butterfly swooped down within inches of my face. Something similar happened to visitor Tom from Oregon. Tom sent in his story When Butterflies Attack that you might enjoy reading
On this bright and sunny day my visitor flittered around from spot to spot on the ground never landing long enough for me to capture a picture. Then on impulse I raised my hand in the air as if to allow a bird to perch there.
I was surprised when he swooped onto my hand as if to allow me one little picture. I quickly snapped the shot. I thanked him as he flew about his business, happy to have shared in his morning flight of fantasy.
In conclusion, I would say that butterfly landings happen for a variety of reasons. And the best person to say what meaning lies behind is you. Most people see them as a positive sign of changes they are currently going through.
The symbol of renewal or rebirth comes from the obvious way that butterflies transform in one lifetime. They remain a fascinating mystery in the way they are born as caterpillars and then rebirth into the beautiful flying creature in almost every color one could imagine.
Do you have a great story about butterflies? Are they landing on your favorite butterfly bush? Pictures of butterflies are nice but how did you capture them on camera? Share it!
